Round 1 Gold Coast at Ashgrove
A great way to start season 2011
The season for Jeeps opened in style with wins in all grades played. Colts 1 led the way with a 62 to nil win over Redlands and Brisbane 3rd Grade were not far behind with a 61 to 5 win, again over Redlands.
Premier Colts had a replay of last years Grand Final against the Gold Coast Breakers, again with a win. This time 22 points to 5.
Premiers opened their season via the boot of Pat Smith. The number 10 kicked 3 penalties for the game to score all the sides points. The game was somewhat disjointed with numerous stopages but there were glimpses of what might be in 2011.
Matt Pini was happy with the defensive effort which is something he wants the team to focus on. He also was pleased to see the side dominate for good parts of the game and commented that the game was a good platform to learn from.
A workhorse around the field who never stopped for the whole game was stalwart Jono Ellis who got the coaches nod as man of the match.
